Animal Care and Behavior

Animals bring enjoyment into the lives of children and adults. They are cute and lovable but also require a major responsibility that involves both a time and financial commitment. Everyone knows that it is a requirement to feed and water their animals but did you know that you are also required to provide your animals' veterinarian care in the event they are injured or sick to prevent suffering? Another requirement is that a current rabies vaccination tag has to be securely attached to a collar worn by all dogs and cats over the age of four (4) months.

White DogCaldwell County Animal Care and Control offers low cost rabies vaccinations at the animal shelter daily. Although rabies vaccinations are the only vaccination that is required by North Carolina, CCACC strongly recommends routine preventative medications and vaccinations scheduled by a veterinarian.

Animal behavior problems are common and one of the reasons that people give up their animals to our shelter or treat them harshly. With a little effort and commitment on the part of the pet owner, most unwanted behaviors can be corrected or prevented by using humane and proven methods.

Our commitment to promoting quality relationships with our pets is significant...If you have a specific behavior or training question, we would like to help! Please call or email us with detailed information.

The Caldwell County Animal Care & Control Shelter supports humane and positive reinforcement training techniques. Through sharing this invaluable information, we hope to promote lasting and rewarding relationships for people and animals alike.
